I avoided budgeting for years. The reason? Honestly, it seemed like a budget was nothing more than a parent telling me what I could and couldn’t do with my money.

Now my budget worksheet (and other printable worksheets) are some of my financial BFFs. They’ve changed my financial life.

Printable budgets can be a game-changer for your finances. They allow you to see where your money is going and make sure that your spending aligns with your values and goals.

Printable Budget Worksheets Change My Finances (For the better!)

I started using budget worksheets and other printable budget tools out of desperation. My family and I were deep in consumer debt (to the tune of $42,000) and desperate for change.

So I searched for and printed out two budget worksheets that would end up changing my life:

  • A budget worksheet
  • A spending tracker

I made the budget estimating our expenses the best I could. Then I went about paying our monthly bills using the budget.

The second step I took was probably the most life-changing as far as our money was concerned. I started tracking every dime we spent, recording what we spent it on.

You see, I couldn’t figure out why we had so much consumer debt at the time. We didn’t buy new cars. We didn’t buy any big-ticket items. No vacations. No trips to the casino.

It didn’t take me very long for my spending tracking worksheet to reveal where our money was going. We were literally nickel and diming our way into growing consumer debt.

Big box store runs for necessities and a little more. Trips to local restaurants. Drive-thru runs. An unrestrained grocery budget.

All of these “little” things were adding up to big spending. But my spending tracking worksheet showed me where we were out of control in our spending. And my printable budget worksheet showed me where we needed to be.

It was a revelation.

Now that I had my printable budget worksheets, I could create a money management system that worked for my family. Each person/couple/family is different. My budget likely won’t work for your family, and the budget that you create won’t work for mine.

This is why customizable money management systems are so important. There’s no “one size fits all” approach to money. A budget worksheet system ensures you can customize your budget and your money plan as you see fit.

Budget worksheets can help you create a plan to get to financial independence or retire early. It’s like having a personal money coach in your back pocket.

Seven years after I started using my first printable budget worksheet system, I’m well on my way to financial freedom. In fact, I still use the same printable budget worksheets today that I used back then.

Here are some of my favorite printable budget worksheets from around the Web.

Bonus: They’re all free!

3. Cents And Order Budget Binder Printables

Cents and Order Budget Binder Printables complete set of budgeting printables can help you manage your finances in several ways. You can create your budget, but you can also track which bills are due on what dates during the month.
